Art for arts sake is, in the current state of the planet and humanity, not that relevant

It wouldn't be bad if we could win some money.

damm man😂😂😂

any thoughts on it ?

nope any that transcends

[source]

Art for arts sake is, in the current state of the planet and humanity, not that relevant

explain

With the many crises humanity currently faces I think that art for arts sake meaning artworks that are complete in themselves and revolve only around themselves are not so important since there are urgent issues which need to be addressed not just by politics but by art as well. What do you think ?

[source]

Art for arts sake is, in the current state of the planet and humanity, not that relevant

I think it’s never been more relevant and needed than now 🙃

how so ?

Art, or any creative endeavour, inhibits change.

inhibits ?

sorry got lost in the translation. I meant it’s a catalyst

I understand. How do you think art can do this ?

art is often presented as an answer, a finished product to be consumed. But great art, I think, works more like a question. It provokes those who experience it to question their beliefs and their realities.

thank you for your replies and thoughts

Art that fails to please an audience and fails to show talent is not worthy of attention and praise

interesting idea! Given how subjective art is I guess it depends on the audience and who decides what 'talent' is. 😊

Who do you think nowadays decides what talent is ?

[source]

Art that fails to please an audience and fails to show talent is not worthy of attention and praise

you’re right! Who knows what you are doing here 🤣

If you agree why do you think art should please an audience and how do you think talent is defined ? ?

[source]

Art that fails to please an audience and fails to show talent is not worthy of attention and praise

so does art have a responsibility, then?

maybe. But if it has what kind of resposibility and to whom or what ? What do you think ?

[source]

Art that fails to please an audience and fails to show talent is not worthy of attention and praise

Art has no responsibility for anyone or anything

[source]

Art that fails to please an audience and fails to show talent is not worthy of attention and praise

[source]

Art that fails to please an audience and fails to show talent is not worthy of attention and praise

not sure what you mean.

[source]

Art that fails to please an audience and fails to show talent is not worthy of attention and praise

what are your thoughts about the statement ?

that your telling me I suck and have no talent

It was meant rather general not specifically aiming at you post (It got my attention after all didn't it ?).

true...hense why I sent the question mark...it could have been taken as a statement with a double meaning. I could have received your attention in a good or bad way and a statement worded correctly like yours was just enough for my morbid curiosity to peek and for me to ask. People who are very well versed and good with words can sometimes sway the world.

Glad you understand. So what is your view on it. Agree/Disagree ?

I agree with it

Can art as a professional activity really be independent ?

what do you mean by art? Indipendent of what? Nothing is independent...

On what do you think art depends on ? Lets think of art as 'the things' shown in art galleries and as the institution here. Also more personally, on what do you think your work depends on ?

well, its impossible to answer your questions in a post...

If I think at my work its a personal search and an introspective and expressive way... and a form of knowledge... maybe.

[source]

Can art as a professional activity really be independent ?

are you gonna reply to this

Yes since im interested in your thoughts about the raised question

[source]

Can art as a professional activity really be independent ?

but isn't it dependend on being sellable ?

[source]

Can art as a professional activity really be independent ?

yes, sure! But not easy.

[source]

Does art need to be accesible and understandable ?

Do not need!

Bcs we need questions! Big hug ✨🤜🏻

[source]

Does art need to be accesible and understandable ?

Since I express what is simmering from me in line drawings, I can not answer that question clearly.

[source]

Does art need to be accesible and understandable ?

in my opinion absolutely not

the best art is usually the opposite at times

what do you like about works that one can't understand ?

well it makes you really want to study and look for any kind of understanding and leaves it open to various interesting interpretations

not saying there is anything wrong with art that is easily understood sometimes that is great as well

sometimes the meaning you give the art yourself is much more impactful and important than what the artist intended and that is just as gratifying

[source]

Is art really independent ?

It's mine...

[source]

Is art really independent ?

Well... what kind of professional activity is really independent ?

[source]

Is art really independent ?

I don’t quite understand your question...independent from What?

Well then let's ask the other way around. What do you think art could be dependent on ?

First Define Art...second, as an artist, you depend on your level of knowledge, craft and inspiration...the message and the feel you want to immerse the viewer in...there’s much to talk about, but this for me is bottom line

[source]

Is art really independent ?

I wish it was. Not all art nowadays is independent..

in which cases do you think it's not independent ?

When it's made in reply for social events, climate change, people or animal rights and so on.

is that a good or bad thing ?

Everyone decides on their own. What do you think?

While I think the independence of art is fundamentally important I also think that this indepence should not come with an isolation of present realities. Especially with the current condition of our planet I think its important that critical issues get addressed in most if not all areas of life, including art.

[source]

Is art really independent ?

you need community to make it grow...

[source]

Is art really independent ?

yes it is

how so ?

[source]

Is art really independent ? how so ?

i dont understand the question

[source]

Is art really independent ? how so ?

what do you mean?

[source]

Is art that fails to please an audience and fails to show talent is not worthy of attention and praise ?

well i am sure you are giving it plenty of attention and praise! Interesting question though 😉

do you have an interesting answer for me ?

[source]

Is art that fails to please an audience and fails to show talent is not worthy of attention and praise ?

[source]

Is art that fails to please an audience and fails to show talent is not worthy of attention and praise ?

I guess its quite relative and Im not God.

[source]

I feel good even if people doesn’t like art

and is the opposite at the same time..

interesting, could you elaborate this a bit more ?

Most people dont care about art galleries. what does that mean for the relevance of art?

I think the problem lies in the distance of artistic language with ordinary people

Thank you for your reply. Very often it seems like art is created for artist. Do you think there is a solution to this ? Should there even be an solution in your opinion ?

this is not a problem

making art is always self-referencing

could you explain this a bit more ?

[source]

Most people dont care about art galleries. what does that mean for the relevance of art?

great question and vast subject...

What are your thoughts on the matter ?

[source]

Most people dont care about art galleries. what does that mean for the relevance of art?

Well, I’m not that I can speak for others, but I like the majority of art galleries that I come across. Especially, in Atlanta. But there are definitely some galleries that seem to snub anything dingy or gritty and those galleries feel too clean and disinfected almost. They make me feel unwelcome as a human being that has bodily functions and genuine emotions. But art doesn’t always have to live in a gallery. In fact, I’m in love with Atlanta because most of the art is found as murals, graffiti, sculptures, tagged electrical boxes, and some of the best art I’ve ever seen hangs in coffee shops and eclectic dive bars. My favorite art galleries are the ones like Facet, DooGallery, Mammal Gallery, Wonderroot, Eyedrum, etc. Then, you have coffee shops like Hodgepodge and Octane. 😄😃😜🤪🤓 Art brings hope and happiness and brings people together. It’s much better when the fruit is out of the fridge and “on the vine.” 😁 I hope that’s an acceptable answer. 🙃

[source]

Most people dont care about art galleries. what does that mean for the relevance of art?

there will always be art, it’s just going to be evolving

how do you think its evolving right now ?

[source]

Most people dont care about art galleries. what does that mean for the relevance of art?

~ Galleries are not the art!

But they are still the major places for art to be shown to the public aren't they ? But then again Im looking at your work trough instagram and could look at million other works of other artists as well.

~ Some say the traditional gallery is on its way out!

[source]

Most people dont care about art galleries. what does that mean for the relevance of art?

your so deep man

any thoughts on the matter ?

i make art for me. Not the galleries. I think that galleries are important because the work looks different and better in person than on a phone screen. People go to galleries to buy art. You may not care because your not a collector

[source]

Most people dont care about art galleries. what does that mean for the relevance of art?

The frontline of art is in the artist's studio

Humans are Creators.. it is our Nature... the Relevance? If we don’t have an Outlet for Creativity the World 🌍 WILL STOP 🛑 TURNING... mental illness reigns supreme and life is jist a Bag o Shite... We/ Humans Create... it is what marks us different from other Animals and in my opinion, it is WHY we have Opposable Thumbs.

When kind people and great spaces come along you have to say yes

[source]

Most people dont care about art galleries. what does that mean for the relevance of art?

there were always people who do not care, but the art is still alive

[source]

Most people dont care about art galleries. what does that mean for the relevance of art?

I don’t make are for galleries, I make it for me - because I love it.

what are your thoughts on plattforms like instagram where can show your work without the need for an gallery ? Since you create (correct me if Im wrong) for your own enjoyment out of intrinsic motivation what role does exhibiting play for you ?

I think platforms like Insta and FB and others just make it easier for more artists to get exposure.

[source]

Most people dont care about art galleries. what does that mean for the relevance of art?

it’s not in an art gallery, it’s in a museum archive, that’s open to the public.

[source]

Most people dont care about art galleries. what does that mean for the relevance of art?

most people don’t care about nearly everything and everyone yet everything and everyone remains somehow relevant

[source]

Most people dont care about art galleries. what does that mean for the relevance of art?

The artscene is elitist, snobbish and undemocratic. how can we overcome this ?

[source]

Most people dont care about art galleries. what does that mean for the relevance of art?

just posting my work. Not sure what you mean?

[source]

Most people dont care about art galleries. what does that mean for the relevance of art?

art is as relevant as it’s ever been, whether it’s in a gallery, on the side of a building, or in the hands of a kid holding a comic or children’s book. Even if it was irrelevant, we’d keep making it, because the point isn’t to be relevant, it’s to get out what’s inside of you.

the methods for distribution and display have changed but the art is still strong.

the world is a gallery full of incredible art. Too see art you don’t necessarily have to go to a “gallery” it’s everywhere. Art will always be relevant as long as humanity lives on. ☺️
